San Manuel Gaming and Hospitality Authority Announces Stephen Thayer as General Manager of Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas
Las Vegas, NV (September 9, 2024) Continuing to make history as the first casino resort in Las Vegas fully owned and operated by a Native American Tribe, the San Manuel Gaming and Hospitality Authority (SMGHA) today named Stephen Thayer, long-time hotelier and casino executive, as General Manager of Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas.
Thayer, a well-known leader in the hospitality and gaming industry, begins his new role on September 16 and will be responsible for overseeing all operations of Palms Casino Resort under the SMGHA, an instrumentality of the San Manuel Band of Mission Indians.
“We are delighted to welcome Stephen to Palms,” stated SMGHA Chairperson Latisha Prieto. “His leadership style and professional accomplishments speak volumes about his ability to lead and innovate and his enthusiasm for activating on our Tribal values at Palms make him the ideal candidate to guide this wonderful property into the next chapter.”
Most recently, Thayer was General Manager of Strat Hotel Casino & Tower spearheading property enhancements, renovations, and elevating the service culture. Previously, he spent many years leading hotel operations for Caesars Entertainment in both Atlantic City and Las Vegas. Thayer is known for his success in driving the guest and team member experience at every property he led.
